Purelink Redefines Ambient Intimacy with New Album ‘Faith’

Purelink’s sophomore album, Faith, released on June 6, 2025, via Peak Oil, marks a luminous evolution in ambient electronic music. The Brooklyn-based trio—Ben Paulson (Kindtree), Akeem Asani (Millia), and Tommy Paslaski (Concave Reflection)—have crafted a 38-minute journey that melds Y2K-era clicks and cuts with a contemporary, emotionally resonant touch.
Departing from the cryptic minimalism of their 2023 debut, Signs, Faith embraces a more communal and accessible sound. The album features contributions from UK producer Loraine James, whose vocals add a whisper of trip-hop paranoia on “Rookie,” and poet Angelina Nonaj, who muses on beauty and artifice in “First Iota.” These collaborations infuse the album with thematic depth and vocal texture.
Tracks like “Kite Scene” and “Circle of Dust” showcase Purelink’s ability to create immersive atmospheres, blending slow, waterlogged beats with billowing chords and bright timbres. The trio’s approach treats ambient music as a communal experience, moving away from the solitary practices of their predecessors.
Critics have noted that while Faith may not delve into the intricate experimentalism of earlier ambient pioneers, its emotionally resonant and inviting style offers a refreshing evolution of the genre. The album’s gentler, more overtly ambient feel, compared to Signs, makes it a standout in contemporary electronic music.
In Faith, Purelink has created a work that is both a homage to ambient traditions and a step forward, offering listeners a vibrant and communal sonic experience.
