Irish dream-pop artist Far Caspian (aka Joel Johnston) unveils “Autofiction,” the heartfelt title track from his upcoming album, out July 25, 2025 via Tiny Library Records (22º Halo). A love letter to his partner—who lends her ethereal vocals to the track—“Autofiction” is a breezy, emotionally rich moment that marks Johnston’s most vulnerable songwriting yet.
After nearly walking away from his solo project, Johnston found renewed inspiration while producing albums for others. Reinvigorated, he finished Autofiction in early 2025, crafting every element himself in his Leeds studio—from writing and playing to mixing and mastering. The result is a shimmering indie-pop collection with nods to Broken Social Scene and Supercar, exploring themes of mental health, recovery, and the quiet power of connection.
Following buzz from Pitchfork, Consequence, and Guitar World for earlier singles “An Outstretched Hand / Rain From Here To Kerry” and “First Day,” Johnston will take Autofiction on the road this fall with a full band across the US, UK, and EU.
