Singer-songwriter @olivabartonhaha Olivia Barton returns with her most vulnerable work yet: the upcoming album For Myself and For You, out October 10, 2025, and produced by Pinegrove’s Sam Skinner. The first single, “Matter to You”—co-written with Madi Diaz—is out now and stuns with its tender precision and piercing honesty.
“I wrote the chorus in the back of a van before I got sober,” Barton shares. “It was the moment I looked at my attention-seeking behavior and found the pain underneath.” With Diaz’s help, the song bloomed into a quiet anthem of self-reckoning and love. Laced with simplicity and emotional weight, Barton’s delivery is striking in its sincerity: “All I want is you to notice when I leave the room.”
For Myself and For You follows Barton’s 2022 release This Is a Good Sign and showcases 12 stripped-back, soul-baring tracks exploring queer love, body image, anxiety, and the bittersweet ache of growing up. With Skinner’s delicate production, Barton’s voice is front and center—never flashy, always real.
“I’m not trying to show off,” Barton explains. “I’m trying to clear away everything that gets in the way of the song.” Tracks like “Thin Again” are so intimate they feel whispered just for you. Elsewhere, songs like “My First House” quietly devastate with lines like “The playroom is an office now.”
Having toured with Lizzy McAlpine and Madi Diaz, co-written “Movie Star” and “Everything Almost,” and captivated audiences with just a guitar and her truth, Barton is ready for a breakout moment.
