Maria Linden and Fredrik Balck are a Swedish duo that operates under an original premise. Linden composes and records all the music first, Balck writes the lyrics, and then Linden records the lyrics. This is a combination that really works. Linden composes synth-pop soundscapes over electronic beats that are ear-catching. The album title, Chiaroscuro, which means the distribution of light and dark throughout a piece of work, is very fitting for this piece. The combination of dark and light works to create a piece of beautiful of art like Ingrid Bergman filmed in black and white and shadows.
