Nick & June Share Sweeping New Single “Anthem” — Featuring Members of The National

Berlin’s Nick & June return with “Anthem,” a grand, slow-burning masterpiece that blends cinematic melancholy with orchestral brilliance. Featuring Kyle Resnick and Ben Lanz of The National on trumpet and trombone, the track glows with brass warmth and emotional depth—an echo of lost memories wrapped in golden tones.

Produced by GRAMMY-winner Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Sharon Van Etten), “Anthem” is the latest glimpse of the duo’s forthcoming album New Year’s Face, arriving December 5, 2025. Vocalist Nick Wolf explains that the song grew from conversations with his grandfather, “in moments when he could still express that he felt himself slipping away.” It’s a poignant reflection on fading stories and the soft erosion of time.

The chemistry between Nick Wolf and Suzie-Lou Kraft—former lovers who turned heartbreak into creative collaboration—is unmistakable. Their harmonies shimmer like light through fog, each line charged with vulnerability and quiet resilience. Resnick and Lanz’s brass arrangements lift the song into something transcendent, evoking both The National’s grandeur and the intimate heartbreak of For Emma, Forever Ago.

Following the haunting “Husband & Wife” (featuring Owen Pallett) and shimmering title track “New Year’s Face,” this new single confirms that Nick & June’s upcoming LP will be one of the year’s most emotionally rich releases. With contributions from Peter Silberman (The Antlers), Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), and Russian Red, New Year’s Face promises an intricate blend of indie introspection and cinematic scale.

Listen to “Anthem” now and let its bittersweet beauty unfold—like the last song of a memory you don’t want to fade.
