    “Today”

“Today” is the new single from emo goddess, Alanis Morissette.  In this song, written for the campaign of Congress member, Marianne Williamson, is a beautiful anthem of hope and a plea for change.  Morissette has always been known for being out-spoken about her believes.  In this song, she calls for all listeners to “Awaken from this frozen/start the mending of our union.”  Morissette uses her odd but beautiful phrasing to make this song a cry for a revolution.  As she states, “I was attempting to capture the passion, mission, activism, deep humanity and tenderness of Marianne, the new political sensibility she represents and the consciousness that produced it.”  With the song, Morissette succeeds.  Williamson is definitely lucky to have Morissette on her side.  Listeners are lucky to have another great song from Morissette.
