“Meadows”
EULA’s aggressive sound is reminiscent of the No Wave movement, Sonic Youth, and Swans, no surprise considering Martin Bisi produced the single. Alyse Lamb’s beautiful wail sets the band apart from similar No Wavish bands. Lamb’s vocals bounce off the army of guitars, backed with pounding bass and drums. “Meadows” is a very short song, but within the brevity there is so much going on. This song is way too short, the only complaint. Textures and layers are piled up without overriding the immediacy of Lamb’s vocals. One of the best singles so far this year.
