Happy Summer. As I said, the best music comes out in the summer. Here is a band from Glasgow that has crawled out of the musical sewers for our enjoyment. Nihilism and jaded optimism converged as Ewan Grant (guitar, vocals) and Owen Wicksted (drums, bass, synths) met resulting in angst driven, melodic hook-heavy pop songs with garage sensibilities. There is punk sensibility at its finest. Reminding the listener of a harsher Stiff Little Fingers with a smack of heavy Buzzcocks, and a Pistols attitude, WOMPS kicks ass. Right now they are touring the UK, but I’m hoping for a US tour with a Pittsburgh stop. Perfect skater music.
