    “History”

    Recoil

Heartbreaking vocals.  If this song doesn’t hit you right in the heart, then you don’t have one.  Matthew Mayfield’s vocals are so intense and raw, his guitar playing so beautiful (simple sounding yet intricate), and his lyrics are so amazing.  This is a song written and song by someone who has been terribly hurt and has hurt others, but is ready to move on.  Mayfield’s vocals are perfect for this type of song (you should hear his version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man”), but “History” is by far one of the greatest love songs I have ever heard.  I cry every time I hear it.  I can not wait for Recoil to be released.  His voice has that Neil Young/Victor Krummenacher sound to it.  Beautiful.
