    “Horseshoe Crab”

What a beautiful, haunting song, so reminiscent of Muse, Mazzy Star, and an more electronic Cowboy Junkies.  Very introspective.  The songs grab the ear and pierce the psyche with complex arrangements and lyrical depth intensified by guitarist/vocalist Leah Wellbaum’s penetrating vocal delivery.  Slothrust is Wellbaum, Kyle Bann (bass), and Will Gorin (drums). The band is a breed apart, serving up deceptively clever epics that veer satisfyingly between incandescent riffing and pop hooks, winsome anxiety and powerful heft.  This song is dedicated to my horseshoe crab, Ermingaard.  I truly love the wistfulness and the power of Wellbaum’s voice.  The contrast with the music works so well.
