You know that soul music that rips your heart out, like Smoky Robinson, Aretha, Chaka Khan? Well, listen to The Suffers. Lead singer, Kam Franklin will break your heart with her beautiful, soaring voice. Established in 2011, The Suffers’ lineup was curated by bassist Adam Castaneda and vocalist/keyboardist Pat Kelly, who brought on trumpet player Jon Durbin, trombonist Michael Razo,guitarist Kevin Bernier, percussionist Jose “Chapy” Luna, and drummer/vocalist Nick Zamora. Jazz saxophonist Cory Wilson and guitarist/vocalist Alex Zamora filled out the rhythm section. With Franklin out front, you have that beautiful soul music that used to play on the radio all the time. Not that these guys are retro: no, they’re just that damn good. They just dropped their first album and are on tour right now. Catch them while you can. They are that great.
