I always appreciate when artists take it upon themselves to really reach for a higher level of musical expression. Whether it be through the lens of a totally different medium then their normal output, the use of concept, or collaboration with other artists that stretch their sound; ‘art’ really should be defined as expression through constant internal and external exploration a.k.a. working your ass off.
Icona Pop is really upping their game with her latest video, for ‘All Night.’ Part documentary-ish behind the scenes look at putting on a ‘Ball’ and fashion-dance competition, ‘All Night’ is pure expression. It’s a very personal and intriguing look at one moment in many people’s lives. It asks, why do we operate the way we do? What makes us work so hard to be an individual? What makes someone Iconic?
The song really inspires you, doesn’t it? There are some amazing people in this world and I’m thankful for IP exposing a few of them in such a raw way. The group has a few television appearances coming up (Letterman – 9/25 / Today Show – 9/26), and their debut album ‘This is Icona Pop’ drops on September 24th. Support these amazing women!
