Argentinian Punk/American Pop: Divino Nino – “Maria”

What a great song.  Taking it theme from Argentinian punk and Mexican telenovelas, this band from Chicago via Bogota has everything you need.  Founded by guitarist Camilo Medina and bassist Javier Forero, who met as children in Colombia before reconnecting in Miami where they had relocated several years later, they recruited Guillermo Rodriguez (guitar) and Pierce Codino (drums) to form Divino Nino.  This band layers those beautiful harmonies, romantic lyrics, and arrangements that are so complex into a mix that is equal parts Argentinian punk and North American pop, a strange arrangement that works so well.  Listen to this band and fall in love.
