JFDR

“Instant Patience”

Brazil

This is an amazing singer.  JFDR is one of those amazing Icelandic artists who seem to come from somewhere unearthly.  Whether it’s the water or the alien landscape, Iceland does something to people.  What puts JFDR in a category all her own is her wordsmith which is no surprise considering the long history of sagas in Icelandic history.  JFDR, the latest project from Iceland’s Jófríður Ákadóttir (Samaris, Pascal Pinon, Gangly), is a blend of cyclical guitar parts, soft minimal soundscapes, and poetic wanderings of a journey that ends where it began.  JFDR’s beautiful voice, her lyrical wordplay, her tremendous use of guitars all work together to make aural journeys and dreams.  Imagine, if you will, Bjork and Eno producing an ambient album and you have JFDR.  One of the greatest artists I’ve heard for a while.
