Aussie Eccentricity: The Stevens – “Pulling All The Facts Together”

The Stevens

“Pulling All The Facts Together”

Good

Coming from Melbourne (what is in the water there?), The Stevens formed in 2011 around guitarists Alex Macfarlane (Twerps, Tyrannamen) and New Zealand-born Travis MacDonald, and were soon joined by bassist Gus Lord (Twerps, Boomgates, Tyrannamen) and drummer Matt Harkin.  They really have this interesting guitar interweaving with the bass and drum keeping interesting rhythms to keep it all afloat.  This is definitely not an average band; they do have some characteristics of Twerps (obviously), but even more eccentric, like Twerps met the Lemonheads with a background in Julian Cope studies.  The Stevens are the real thing.  Thank the gods for the Aussies (and those Kiwis) for always pushing the edge.  What a great band.
