PJ Harvey & Harry Escott

“An Acre Of Land”

Soundtrack to “Dark River”

The most beautiful song released this year.  That’s all I can say about this beautiful, immense, tremendous song PJ Harvey and Harry Escott have written for the movie Dark River. This song reminds of the wide expanse of the moors of southern England or anywhere else where you can see forever; the small copses of trees along meandering streams, the clover in flower, the bogs, the vastness of the sky, that feeling of being back to the earth (sometimes I picture Helium Raven from Patti Smith’s “Birdland”).  This song would fit perfectly on White Chalk, yet it also sounds brand new, yet it is ancient as the native gods.  I love this.  This is what I’ve been waiting for from PJ.
