PJ Harvey

“The Crowded Cell”

The great Polly Jean Harvey has released this amazing song written for the British show, “The Virtues”, created by Shane Meadows and starring Stephen Graham.  “The Virtues” is a 4-part drama tackles themes of repressed memory, apocalyptic revenge, and the hope of redemption, and Harvey’s song matches that theme with its relentless beat, the single harsh guitar strokes, her lovely vocals with harmonies just barely there, drawing a picture of almost total bleakness with bits of light for that small hope.  Harvey scored all four episodes of the show, and if the show is even a little bit like this song, it will be heart wrenchingly beautiful.  Come on Polly, it’s time for you to tour and show the world you are the best.
