Dispel

“Temptation”

Lore

I love Darkwave when they reached back to those medieval elements that just out of reach of modern civilization, but still the era calls to us.  Dispel invokes that age of violence and chivalry, piety and sin, all those opposing sentiments.  Dispel is comprised of Scott Dispel, Ravensea, and Sean Gallows.  The trio brings the medieval epics reminiscent of Sir Thomas Mallory and El Cid to life.  The heaviness of the music is balanced by the pure beauty of the voice of Ravensea.  Her whole persona reminds me of the great women of the medieval period:  Empress Mathilda, Maud de Braose, and Eleanor of Aquitaine.  I love the way Dispel brings you back to that time.  Of all the darkwave bands, Dispel might be the most interesting.
