Strong Grunge Metal: The Pleading – “Sabbath”
The Pleading
“Sabbath”
Decay
That heavy emo/grunge metal band from East Nashville/Clarksville are back with a new single from their EP, Decay. And, God, it kicks so much ass, and the lyrics (which I’ve printed here) will leave you speechless. This song is too wonderful and painfully true. I have never heard a song that nails the struggle single mothers experience every day better than this. The Pleading, comprised of J Cease Owens: Vocals, Justin Peaytt & Matt Robinson: Guitar, Brandon Sather: Drums and Jeff Strader: Bass, are the best emo/grunge metal band out there, and that is saying a lot.
Daddy left her crying on that Sabbath night Her and 7 children fighting for their lives But as she stood, she whispered now children please come here we’re gonna go to the river and say a little prayer and since that bastard left us for his youthful tease my momma never gave up and taught us to believe she goin’ down to the river and falling to her knees she prayin’ “father forgive him, and save my children please” for 7 years she struggled to give us house and home but not a day gone hungry, she worked it to the bone and as her first child left her to take his loving wife she said my work is done here so go and live your life and as we each grew older, she never shed a tear for as our lives grew fuller it answered all her prayers she goin’ down to the river and falling to her knees she prayin’ “father forgive him, and save my children please” I’ll never forgive my daddy or his gold digging whore that little bitch was crazy but momma loved her more she loved her more and as we each grew older, she never shed a tear for as our lives grew fuller it answered all her prayers she goin’ down to the river and falling to her knees she prayin’ “father forgive him, and save my children please”
