Sitar legend, Ravi Shankar, has died today at 92 years old. Shankar brought Indian music to the west and even taught the Beatle’s George Harrison how to play the sitar, which inevitably ended up in some of the Beatle’s biggest songs. “Norwegian Wood”, “Tomorrow Never Knows” and “Within You Without You” would have probably never seen the light of day if it weren’t for Ravi Shankar’s influence.
Ravi Shankar leaves behind his wife Sukanya, daughter Anoushka Shankar and other daughter, pop-superstar Norah Jones.
