Cotillon

“Black Sea”

The Afternoons

What a strange mix of slightly wistful and off-key vocals with beautiful, pop-infused music, whirling around creating this picture of daily life just being led.  The video, directed by Brian Lee Hughes, has Cotillon hanging out for a day with artist Ariana Papademetropoulos, giving one the feel of Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” or John Lennon’s “Just Like Starting Over”.  The Afternoons is Cotillon’s “New York” album, written and recorded in a small NYC apartment and reflecting life in the big city, “drawing inspiration from big city culture, French new wave, Japanese literature, uppers, downers, and a romantic relationship.”  What comes across is a true love poem to New York.
