Rock Philosophy: King Tuff – “Psycho Star”

King Tuff

“Psycho Star”

The Other

I love King Tuff.  Honestly, he makes the philosophy and thinking about what our place in this world actually is sound fun.  King Tuff (nee Kyle Thomas) has been rocking for awhile, spending some time with Ty Segall and kicking ass.  After releasing three great albums, King Tuff took a break.  According to King Tuff,

“The Other marks a new chapter for King Tuff. I was a lost soul, I didn’t know who I was anymore, I just sat there staring out the window. So I went down deep into the void for a few years. And while I was there I found some worms, some crazy flowers, and some songs. These songs blasted me back into the sunshine. They saved me and I’m more excited about this record than I have been in a long time.”

All I know that King Tuff is a great musician, and his music is outstanding and overwhelming. Playing with Magic Jake and Garett Goddard, Kyle Thomas has created a band that is just killer.

Read the lyrics to the song.  This will show just how great this song is.  Thanks, King.  You are what we needed.

LYRICS TO  “THE OTHER”

Lookin’ out my window,

there’s no doubt about it

We don’t belong in this world,

be better off without us

Madness and destruction,

maybe that is all that we are

The universe is mostly made of nothing, isn’t it so beautifully bizarre

That here we are…

Watching the wind blow,

watching the wind blow

Watching the rain so hard

Watching the fire, gettin’ higher

On this strange little star

We were always dreamin’

of castles in the sky

Dreamin’ of another planet,

how could we be so blind

Chaos and confusion,

maybe that is all that we are

The universe is probably an illusion,

but isn’t it so beautifully bizarre

That here we are…

Watching the wind blow,

watching the wind blow

Watching the rain so hard

Watching the fire, gettin’ higher

On this strange little star
