Leeds, England’s Sky Larkin are confirmed to release their third full-length album Motto on September 17th, 2013 via Wichita Recordings. In advance, the band premiered their video for album track “Loom” today on DIY.
Directed by Ashley Connor, the beautifully shot clip (which can also be viewed here: http://youtu.be/grywikrZT7U) follows in the footsteps of the song by leading the audience into a false sense of joyfulness. “I knew that the inspiration for this song meant that it would the saddest on the record for me, so I consciously attempted a fake-out with myself,” explains singer/guitarist Katie Harkin. “I wanted it to be our Enola Gay, pop on the surface with a darkness that the casual listener might not pick up on. For me that’s one of the funniest things about songs: they can be powerful without being self-evident.” The song is also available for streaming and sharing via Soundcloud and follows the release of title track “Motto,” which premiered on Pitchfork in May: https://soundcloud.com/weareskylarkin/motto.
