9. Miley Cyrus – Plastic Hearts
Miley enters her rock era but polishes it nicely creating one of the best pop-rock albums of 2020. What makes this even better is that she pays homage to some of the greats including Stevie Nicks.
8. Gorillaz – Song Machine: Season One
Gorillaz’s seventh studio album is a sonic collage of sounds from the Song Machine series featuring a plethora of collaborations and various music genres.
7. Disclosure – Energy
The Lawrence brothers’ third album’s title says it all. This album is HIGH ENERGY and some of the best dance music to come out all year.
6. Tame Impala – The Slow Rush
Kevin Parker’s ethereal psychedelic music is at its finest on this album even mixing some disco to this record.
5. Run The Jewels – RTJ4
Killer Mike and El-P are back with one of their finest and most raucous records yet. This could not have come at a more appropriate time. We consider this the best hip-hop record since their last album.
4. Phoebe Bridgers – Punisher
Only her second album and some of the best, multi-dimensional indie/psychedelic rock of the year.
3. Jessie Ware – What’s Your Pleasure?
Jessie Ware delivers one of the best dance albums of the year and one of the more fun albums she has put out since she debuted.
2. The Weeknd – After Hours
It’s a travesty that The Weeknd was not nominated for a Grammy because his ability to create a memorable narrative with a cohesive collision of new wave, dream pop, and R&B is undeniable.
1. Fiona Apple – Fetch The Bolt Cutters
Even the Beatles would be proud of this record. No music sounds like it and Fiona Apple has outdone herself with this unyielding masterpiece.
