The Main Squeeze

“Angelus”

Mind Your Head

Remember the Sound of Philadelphia?  That smooth funk, with those great guitar hooks, those funky vocals, just that swing; well, The Main Squeeze have been studying well.  This song could have come from that era of the O’Jays, the Spinners, Teddy Pendergrass, all the beautiful soulful sexy music.  The five-piece, consisting of Corey Frye (vocals), Max Newman (guitar), Ben “Smiley” Silverstein (keyboards), Reuben Gingrich (drums) and Jeremiah Hunt (bass), found its roots in Bloomington, Indiana’s live music scene back in 2010, definitely not where you’d expect them to come from.  But, damn it, no matter where they are from, they are funky as all get out.  You want to charm that date of yours into bed, turn on the Main Squeeze.  They are the new funk.  As George Clinton would say, Hail the Funk.
