New Country: Josh Ritter – “Showboat”

    Josh Ritter

    “Showboat”

    Gathering

The boy from Moscow (Idaho) has a new album out, and it is everything you would expect from a Josh Ritter; great vocals, beautiful arrangements, heartfelt lyrics.  Gathering sounds a bit more traditional country than his previous works, but that is certainly not bad.  In fact, it is exactly what “country” (or whatever that country pop crap is) needs to kick it in the right direction.  Think of Allison Krause a little more Nashville.  This is just great music.  He’s touring with his band.  Definitely see him before he becomes so big you won’t be able to afford him.  Ritter is big now, but “Showboat” is going to make his career soar.  And it couldn’t happen to a better guy.  (By the way, I will be at the November 1st concert in Millvale.  Meet me there, guys.)
