    “Hvermig kemst eg upp?”

    Nott Eftir Nott

Another wonderful band has come out of Iceland, a tremendous post dark wave/synth wave band called Kaelan Mikla.  Margrét Rósa, Laufey Soffia, and Sólveig Matthildur formed the band in Reykjavik five years ago, and since then, they have taken Europe especially by storm.  The perfect description of the band comes from their bio:

Near the end of Nótt eftir nótt, you’ve already ingested a healthy dose of Diamanda Galas meets The Birthday Party, the title track, produced by popular Icelandic electronic wizard Bang Gang, is basically perfect.

Kaelan Mikla does have that other-worldly beauty that is slightly uncomfortable.  This is a challenging band, but really, one that is worth the effort.  Rarely has dark wave been so much fun? yet strange at the same time.  As they would say on Bandstand, ‘you can dance to it, so I’ll give it a 100’.  Oh, the album’s release date is November 9th, so preorder your copy now.
