CCL’s debut solo EP, Plot Twist, released on November 15, 2024, showcases their distinctive approach to electronic music, blending genres like speed garage, breakbeat 2-step, and dub techno into a cohesive and immersive experience. The EP comprises three original tracks—“Plot Twist,” “The Plot Thickens” (featuring D. Tiffany), and “Strange Attractor”—along with a remix of “The Plot Thickens” by Piezo.

The EP is presented as an “ASMR murder mystery,” a theme that unfolds through subtle spoken-word fragments, adding a layer of intrigue to the listening experience. This concept is particularly evident in the title track, where CCL’s own vocal samples create an eerie atmosphere, drawing listeners into a narrative that feels both intimate and enigmatic.

“The Plot Thickens,” a collaboration with D. Tiffany, stands out with its haunting delivery of the line “Dreams, the original thrill,” evoking a nostalgic feel reminiscent of vintage samples. The track seamlessly blends elements of speed garage and breakbeat 2-step, creating a sound that feels both fresh and familiar.

“Strange Attractor” showcases CCL’s ability to traverse various electronic subgenres, incorporating influences from dub techno and proggy tech house. The track evolves from icy ambient textures to subterranean trance, with clattering breaks adding an extra layer of complexity. This fluidity between genres reflects CCL’s background as a DJ known for melting the porous walls between genres, making them a DJ’s dream.

The EP concludes with Piezo’s remix of “The Plot Thickens,” which offers a fresh interpretation while maintaining the original’s hypnotic essence. Piezo’s take adds a new dimension to the track, emphasizing the EP’s theme of constant evolution and transformation.

Overall, Plot Twist is a testament to CCL’s innovative spirit and deep understanding of electronic music’s rich tapestry. By weaving together diverse influences and personal touches, CCL has crafted an EP that invites listeners into a unique sonic world, blurring the lines between genres and creating a truly immersive experience.
