Obongjayar launches into the new year with “Not in Surrender,” a euphoric, high-energy anthem that captures the thrill of nights we secretly wish would never end. Blending breathless ad-libs, syncopated percussion, and a Prince-like transcendence, the track pulses with urgency, reflecting the push-and-pull of indulgence and ambition.

Following the dreamlike, danceable “Just My Luck,” this new single signals an evolution in Obongjayar’s unmistakable sound—one that continues to expand, elevate, and surprise.

“You burn out quick when you burn the candle at both ends, but what a magnificent light it makes! This song is about pushing the limits—working hard, playing hard, and seeing how far you can take it. It’s inspired by my PARADISE NOW parties—the people, the adventure, the fun.”

Last summer, PARADISE NOW, his intimate party series at Ormside Projects, brought together an electrifying lineup including Little Simz, Pa Salieu, Kwes Darko, Lava La Rue, and more, turning the space into a playground of raw energy and artistic expression.

🎧 Listen to “Not in Surrender” now and stay tuned for what’s next.

    Who Is Obongjayar?

Born in Lagos and raised in Calabar, Nigeria, Obongjayar moved to the UK at 18, carrying with him a deep love for music. Influenced early on by American hip-hop and R&B (Eminem, Ciara, Nelly), it wasn’t until he arrived in London that he truly embraced Nigeria’s rich musical heritage.

From releasing tracks on SoundCloud to earning an Ivor Novello Award for “God’s Own Children,” Obongjayar’s genre-blending sound—electronic, soul, pop, afrobeat, and beyond—has made him one of the most compelling voices today. His critically acclaimed 2022 debut, Some Nights I Dream of Doors, cemented his status, earning praise from i-D, Crack Magazine, The Guardian, and NPR.

Recently, he collaborated with Fred again.. on “adore u,” a viral hit that samples his song “I Wish It Was Me,” racking up over 225 million streams globally.

    Obongjayar is just getting started.
