Two decades into their candy-coated, synth-soaked odyssey, Black Moth Super Rainbow is back with Soft New Magic Dream, their first album in seven years, dropping June 6 via Rad Cult. This time, they’re blasting their signature neon nostalgia with a chilled-out, syrupy twist—a warped fusion of melancholic synth-pop, hip-hop grooves, and freak-out psychedelia.

Leading the charge is “Open the Fucking Fantasy,” a searing new single that arrives alongside the announcement of a North American tour for summer 2025. Also, check out the video for their previously released track, “All 2 of Us”.

While 2018’s Panic Blooms leaned into darkness, Soft New Magic Dream pulls us into a glitchy, sugar-spun haze. The album drips with freaky love songs, crunchy funk, and blissed-out ballads, never straying too far from BMSR’s uncanny, dreamlike universe. Soaring synths, fractured drum breaks, and taffy-stretched chord progressions melt together in an album that’s as playful as it is hypnotic.

At the center, Tobacco’s vocoder-drenched vocals bubble between tenderness and eerie body horror, luring listeners into a woozy, candy-flavored fog. It’s classic BMSR, but softer, sleepier, and sweeter—the kind of sonic trip that leaves you grinning with a sugar high and a few cavities to show for it.

Pre-order Soft New Magic Dream now and get ready for a summer of surreal synth bliss.
