Tennis returns with their most emotionally resonant work yet—Face Down In The Garden, out April 25 via their own Mutually Detrimental label. With it comes “12 Blown Tires,” a poignant new single written during a van breakdown on tour—where blown tires, marriage, and music collided on the shoulder of I-40.

Recorded entirely at home in Denver, Face Down In The Garden marks the final chapter of this incarnation of Tennis. Husband-wife duo Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley distilled 15 years of life, love, and touring into their seventh studio album, blending Brill Building charm, dreamy synth-pop, and artful rock into their most adventurous and self-assured release yet.

Moore describes “12 Blown Tires” as a “constellation of memories” and a reflection on the highs and lows of life on the road. The track—and album—signals both a farewell and a celebration of a journey few indie acts have sustained so beautifully. “We’ve said everything we wanted to say,” she shares. “Now we’re ready to make space for what’s next.”

Tennis will hit the road one last time this spring for a farewell North American tour, with stops at iconic venues like NYC’s Pier 17 and LA’s Greek Theatre. To mark this milestone, they’ll also release Neutral Poetry: First Recordings, Unreleased Demos 2009–2010, an EP of rare early gems, on May 16.

Whether you’ve been with them since Cape Dory or just discovered Pollen, Face Down In The Garden is the sendoff Tennis fans won’t want to miss.
