French psych-pop visionary Melody Prochet, the mind behind Melody’s Echo Chamber, returns with “Eyes Closed,” a radiant new single from her forthcoming album Unclouded, due December 5 via Domino. The track, driven by Malcolm Catto’s (Madlib, DJ Shadow, The Heliocentrics) explosive breakbeats, propels Melody’s lush vocals through a kaleidoscopic swirl of psychedelia, krautrock, and dreamlike soul.

The Sound of Devotion and Impermanence
Melody describes “Eyes Closed” as an act of surrender — not escapism.
“My eyes are closed not in denial, but in devotion—to vibrant memories, to the complexity of human feelings, to seeing more deeply,” she shares.
This duality—the push and pull between transience and transcendence—permeates the track. Propulsive percussion collides with celestial synths and reverb-drenched guitars, creating an ecstatic chaos that feels at once nostalgic and newly born. There’s a freedom in the performance, a spirit that feels both playful and deeply human—like early Broadcast or Stereolab colliding with the cinematic heart of Air or The Flaming Lips.
A Liminal Masterpiece
Unclouded finds Melody at a creative peak, merging her surrealist pop instincts with an unflinching embrace of the present. She calls the album “a celebration of the living experience,” explaining:
“The more experience I have of living, the deeper I love life and the less I need to escape.”
Produced with Sven Wunder (Danny Brown), and featuring contributions from Josefin Runsteen, Reine Fiske (Dungen), and Leon Michels (El Michels Affair, Clairo), Unclouded carries Melody’s signature weightless warmth into new dimensions. The sonic alchemy blends organic textures—strings, analog synths, breakbeats—with a soulful modernity.
The result is a record that shimmers between dream and daylight, between reflection and release.

Why “Eyes Closed” Matters
This single reminds listeners why Melody’s Echo Chamber remains one of psych-pop’s most treasured and forward-thinking acts. It’s a continuation of her genre-defying journey—less about nostalgia, more about evolution. “Eyes Closed” captures the dizzy joy of feeling everything at once—an invitation to surrender to the present, even when it hurts.
