New Singles Out Now | From the Humanhood Sessions | UK & EU Tour Begins November 1
Toronto-based artist Tamara Lindeman, the creative force behind The Weather Station, unveils two new singles: the propulsive, hypnotic “Airport” and the introspective, gently orchestral “Only The Truth.” Both songs were recorded during sessions for her acclaimed 2024 album Humanhood (Fat Possum), hailed by NPR Music as “the best thing she’s done to date” and by The Wall Street Journal as “a beautifully orchestrated album that deftly moves between personal observations and cosmic questions.”

Two Sides of Humanity: The Restless and the Real
With “Airport,” Lindeman captures a rare moment of energy and movement — a pulsing rhythm underscored by unease and yearning. It’s both literal and metaphorical: a space of departure, impersonality, and fleeting connection.
“I’ve always hated airports; I find them so dehumanizing,” says Lindeman. “This song tells the story of a person trying to mirror what’s around them — shutting down, pretending not to care — even when deep down, they really do. Beneath that surface, there’s a longing, a hope for something alive that feels like it can’t be.”
Driven by warm bass tones and a motorik pulse, “Airport” joins The Weather Station’s tradition of exploring interior landscapes through atmospheric folk and art-pop textures, echoing the emotional precision of Kate Bush and the quiet intensity of Talk Talk.
By contrast, “Only The Truth” unspools with patient beauty, a track that Lindeman calls “one of my favourites from Humanhood.”
“It feels so relevant and connected with the record,” she notes. “It expands on the same idea as ‘Neon Signs’ — that truth isn’t glamorous or persuasive; it just exists, quietly, stubbornly. Falsehoods shimmer, reach toward you, but the truth ‘doesn’t care if you care / all it ever is is there.’”
From Humanhood to Human Truth
Released earlier this year, Humanhood solidified Lindeman’s position as one of today’s most quietly radical songwriters. Across strings, brass, and minimalist percussion, she transformed the personal into the philosophical — reflecting on existence, empathy, and the fragile ecology of human life.
These two new singles extend that conversation, showcasing the full range of her emotional world — from detachment to devotion, from abstraction to aching honesty.
