Eve 6 – “black nova” – grim value
One of my favorite punk/emo band (with the best name – go “X Files) has a new EP out after what seems like years. Again, Eve 6 has filled their new song, “black nova”, with tongue twisters and flights of fancy. Eve 6 is the band whose lyrics were always what English majors would write, actually making literature to describe the heartache of being human and, maybe, even in love. Max Collins (lead vocals/bass) and Jon Siebels (guitar, backing vocals) formed the band with Tony Fagenson (drums) in 1995. Fagenson retired in 2018 and was replaced by Ben Hilzinger. The fact that the guys are still rocking is amazing. I love this band. Collins is such an unusual vocalist, singing as if he is Jeremiah proclaiming the coming of the Lord. I say, preach on guys.
