    “Moonlight Serenade”

    Interstellar Songbook II

From her second CD, this version on “Moonlight Serenade” is quite easily the most beautiful and yet creepy version ever recorded.  Sounding a little like Lana del Rey channeling Ella Fitzgerald, Weaver makes this song completely her own.  Her voice is flawless, with the background synthesizers giving you the experience that Weaver is NOT from this world; instead, she is an Alien in the best, Bowie/Bryan Ferry way.  Weaver is always impeccable, but on “Moonlight Serenade”, she reaches a new height.  And I never thought that anyone could ever make a better version of this song than Ella.  That torch (the true torch singer) has now passed to Joanne Weaver.  Brava!
