“Winterlude” feat. Jonathan Cayer on Piano

As usual, Mimoza H has given us a song that is so beautiful, especially as we get close to the end of an interminably long winter into a glorious spring.  Mimoza H voice is simply loving, invoking the very best of Enya, enticing you to glory in the beauty of winter, making you actually listen to the voice of winter.  As Mimoza H says:

“The song was co-composed with Montreal’s finest jazz pianist Jonathan Cayer during some snowy days. With this piece we wanted to capture the melancholic mood as our body and mind settled peacefully into the cold and contemplative season. The idea was to be free of any music writing structure and let ourselves be driven by our feelings improvising with piano and voice while sonically painting around the song’s theme. Through this process, I found myself getting particularly inspired by the cinematic and haunting mood of Denis Villeneuve’s film ‘Arrival’.”

Mimoza and Cayer succeed.  This is my favorite winter song, up there with “50 Words For Snow” by Kate Bush.  I now want to be stranded with my partner and dog in a winter wonderland in a cabin far from everywhere.  Thank you, Mimoza, for your beautiful lyrics.  (oh, the ending is so sweeping.)

WINTERLUDE

A tear, a tear

A tear, a tear is swimming

In crystal ice

A scar, a scar in the sky

With stars of a desert night

The dance has begun

Our shadows touch

In stormy sounds

Do you hear it

The voice, the voice of winter

Whispering mysteries to you

The voice, the voice of winter

Do you hear, do you hear

Do you hear it

The voice of winter

Hissing mysteries to your ears

You shouldn’t believe In your ears

You shouldn’t believe

That the moon fell

A tear, a tear is swimming

In crystal ice

The moon, the moon has fallen

But there is still light

There is still light

In cold winter night

There is still light In cold winter nights

There is still light In cold winter night

In cold
