Energy Galore: FYKE – “Antisocial”
FYKE
“Antisocial”
Disorder
FYKE does such a great job combining electronics with pop sensibilities to create a truly unique experience. Sometimes they even verge towards post metalpop. This is a great song. I love their take on love gone wrong making you antisocial (let’s face it; that is so true). But I know that it refers to all those experiences that cause deep pain. As Enik Lin says:
“’Antisocial’ is about living with social anxiety disorder due to a past traumatic experience or PTSD. We’re hoping that by highlighting and talking about these issues through our music, that we can begin a “much needed” dialogue that needs to be had regarding mental health awareness.”
FYKE is a Los Angeles-based rock band comprised of Enik Lin (vocals), Steven Delman (guitar), Justin Wright (guitar), Mikee Fabella (bass/vocals), and Gerard Christian (drums). And Enik Lin has this commanding presence. I don’t think anyone is like him on stage. He is all over with energy, and his voice, when he hits those falsetto notes, sends shivers down your spine and creates goosebumps galore. This is the type of music I’ve been looking for, and thank god, FYKE really delivers. (Oh, I love Lin’s hair.)
