Wild Pink Poised for a Breakthrough with New Album ‘Dulling The Horns’
Wild Pink’s upcoming LP, ‘Dulling The Horns’, set for release in just under a month on Fire Talk Records, marks the band’s fifth full-length album. It arrives on the heels of a steadily rising wave of acclaim, which hit new heights with 2022’s *ILYSM*. That record, created during frontman John Ross’s cancer diagnosis and treatment, saw Wild Pink at their most expansive and experimental. With contributions from artists like Julien Baker, Yasmin Williams, and J. Mascis, *ILYSM* stretched the band’s sonic boundaries, embracing a range of new genres and production techniques.
With *Dulling The Horns*, Wild Pink tightens the focus, distilling the lessons learned from their more ambitious outings into leaner, more refined arrangements. This shift emphasizes some of Ross’s most compelling songwriting yet. The album’s first two singles, “Sprinter Brain” and “The Fences of Stonehenge,” have garnered widespread praise, with many suggesting this could be a career-defining release for the band. Uproxx even hailed Ross as “one of the most consistently excellent songwriters in indie rock.”
Adding to the excitement, the band recently announced a new leg of their tour, featuring dates with MJ Lenderman. Today, they’ve offered another taste of the upcoming album with the release of the single “Eating The Egg Whole,” further heightening anticipation for what might be Wild Pink’s finest work to date.
