In 1977 Steve Miller released his iconic album The Book of Dreams. “Jungle Love” was the last song to be recorded on the album and was done so in only 30 minutes. Not only was it the most unique song on the record but it also wasn’t Miller’s. “Jungle Love” was actually written by the bass player Lonnie Turner and a fellow musician of his. The song was given to Miller as a demo and needless-to-say Miller loved it.
Everything from the initial whistle to the surf-rock meets blues style gives this song it’s charisma. Steve Miller may not have expected it to be such a big hit but it ended up being one of the biggest he would have.
