Bad Bad Hats – “Detroit Basketball” – Walkman

Bad Bad Hats is a fun, whimsical, pop punk band from Minneapolis comprised of Kerry Alexander, Chris Hoge, and Connor Davison. Seriously, this is the most fun band to come down the pike since Bananarama, which is definitely a huge complement.  “Detroit Basketball” is a great break-up song, looking for a guy who won’t spend all his (and her) money of the Pistons.  I have included the lyrics down below.  The song is catchy as all get out, and it celebrates the end of a bad relationship and the knowing that the right stuff is out there.  Play this loud while you’re cruising in your car this summer.

Gotta find a man who deserves my kissing And doesn’t blow my money on the Detroit Pistons Stop and start over again, stop and start over again He says he doesn’t love me, that’s his final decision Guess I’ll move out and start feeding the pigeons Stop and start over again, stop and start over again Cause I-I been over it, been over it, yeah And I-I don’t know what you see in me But I-I got over it, got over it, yeah And baby, now I’m free Got a good job in a senior position Then I threw a party and cried in the kitchen Stop and start over again, stop and start over again The way you looked at me outside the Catholic mission I knew I was in heaven, but I didn’t listen Stop and start over again, stop and start over again Cause I-I been over it, been over it, yeah And I-I don’t know what you see in me But I-I got over it, got over it, yeah And baby, now I’m free Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah Cause I-I, I got over it I got over it And baby, now I’m free Baby, now I’m free Baby, now I’m free
