Chris Blacker

“Don’t Let Me Leave You”

Surviving The Golden Age

“What is the point of this whole damn race but to be back at the place where we started?”  Those are some of the lyrics to this beautiful song.  Everyone knows how much I love Chris Blacker.  It’s for songs like this that are so wonderful.  On this song, he does sound like Matt Pond (not a copy, no, Blacker is a true original), but it’s that same feel.  He also has a little Casey Stratton going for him.  Blacker is one of my heroes.  His voice is so unique, it’s not perfect, but neither was Cohen or Waits or Dylan.  But his piano work, his instrumentation, his honesty, his focus, he is the whole package.  Chris, come to Pittsburgh.  You are the best.
