Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats 70s Cinema Inspired New Album Coming May 10th
Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats are making a comeback with the release of “Nell’ Ora Blu,” marking their first new album in six years, set to drop on May 10 through Rise Above Records. Drawing inspiration from Italian film, lead singer Kevin Starrs envisioned the album as the score to a non-existent movie.
To enhance the authenticity, Italian cinema icons Edwige Fenech and Franco Nero were enlisted to perform inter-track dialogues.Starrs describes the album as an homage to the Italian cinema of the 70s, weaving a narrative around characters who take justice into their own hands, leading to inevitable dark outcomes.
The work integrates the gritty essence of poliziotteschi films and the notorious Giallo genre. Starrs’ ambition led him to seek out Fenech and Nero, two acclaimed actors who had yet to collaborate, bringing them onboard for this unique project.
Emphasizing the niche appeal of the album, Starrs acknowledges its departure from mainstream tastes, prioritizing a rich blend of styles over commercial hits. He likens the album’s progression to the unending flow of blood, aiming to leave listeners feeling drained and challenged by the experience. While no tracks have been released yet, fans can look forward to the tracklist (below) and cover art (above) revealed so far.
