Mr. Gnome Unveils New Album ‘A Sliver of Space’ and Announces Fall 2024 Tour

Mr. Gnome, nothing and everything, tour
Pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration, Cleveland art-rock duo Mr. Gnome crafts a dynamic, ever-evolving world of psychedelic orchestration on their highly anticipated LP, *A Sliver of Space*, set to release on September 27th via El Marko Records.

Today, the duo unveils their hypnotic first single from the record, “Nothing and Everything.” This track embodies the uncertainty, fear, sadness, and confusion experienced by the band during recording, reflecting their sense of a world turned upside down. Yet, as the band explains, “It’s also about understanding that with love, we can get through even the most challenging times. The end of this song is about passion and escape, allowing yourself to live in the moment instead of longing for the past.” See video for “Nothing and Everything” below:

You can listen to the new single on YouTube, pre-order the vinyl and CD, and find it on Bandcamp. In addition, Mr. Gnome has announced a full North American fall tour to support the new album. See below for the full list of dates.

Mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Interpol, Tennis, Temples, Panic at the Disco, Parquet Courts, Ra Ra Riot), *A Sliver of Space* bursts with hypnotic, gritty rock anthems that transition into long-form, drug-fueled journeys, taking listeners on a surreal trip from start to finish. Defying simple genre classification, Mr. Gnome weaves a dense tapestry of textures and influences, anchored by lead singer/guitarist Nicole Barille’s golden harmonies. The album’s relatively compact runtime is packed with electronica, desert rock, punk, indie rock, and lush soundscapes that coalesce into a uniquely defining sound.

“When we started writing *A Sliver of Space*,” they describe, “we were dealing with significant personal loss and upheaval. Nothing was off-limits lyrically or musically as we delved into the liminal, dreamlike spaces between life and death, consciousness and unconsciousness, past and future, happiness and sadness, the real and the imaginary. This album chronicles our descent into madness and our ultimate salvation through love.”

Since 2005, Barille and drummer/pianist Sam Meister have been creating expansive, technicolor art-rock, garnering critical acclaim from Rolling Stone (named “Band To Watch” in a spotlight review), Pitchfork, NPR, Paste, Esquire, Spin, Magnet, MTV, KEXP, and American Songwriter. Their music is complemented by DIY visuals, including otherworldly album covers, artistic press photography, and mind-bending short films.

Known for their energetic live shows, Mr. Gnome has a strong cult following across the U.S. This sixth release marks their long-awaited return to the stage for a coast-to-coast U.S. tour this fall, joined by touring guitarist/bassist Jonah Meister, who also features on *A Sliver of Space*.

Through sound, visuals, and live performances, Mr. Gnome excels at illuminating the beautiful monsters within us all. *A Sliver of Space* finds beauty in chaos, blending spectral sounds with a cinematic perspective, inviting listeners on a soaring, introspective journey.

Join them on this adventure.
